Raimundo Santander

The main project of the Chilean guitarist Raimundo Santander is called “La Orquesta del Viento” which is translated as “Orchestra of the Wind.” This image is a good description of the creative method Raimundo called today one of the most interesting Chilean jazzmen. Wind is generally a good image for Chile, unusual country in every sense. Just as a variety of influences mixed in its culture, so is jazz form and the image of the national folklore of the Andes and South America blended in the “Orchestra”. “Wind Orchestra” promotes jazz through folk ideas, and gropes for new ways to Chilean folk music through improvisational approach.

In 2013 Raimundo took part in the first “MuzEnergoTour” with this line up. He showed instrumental trio in the first days of travel, and then drove to the end of the tour together with the artist Sol Diaz: her work is done by computer and electronic pen directly during play performances, being full of visual improvisation based on sound compositions. In 2015 Santander returned to the project – this time alone, ready for new experiments.
